Nothing much to report right now. I got some pre-spring fertility down on the new section of clover trail planted from the Todd plot back to the south. The new stuff got a good shot of K as well as a shot of gypsum.
I also applied some gypsum half way down the stretch by the freezer. I'm trying to see if there is a noticeable difference in how the clover grows and is consumed by deer with sulfur vs without sulfur.

This is the new seeding south of the Todd Plot. Planted fall of '16. It's had lime, potash, and gypsum. |
This is the middle of that new seeding from the Todd plot. Little thin here. |
Last stretch headed into the Todd plot. |
Noticed lots of browsing on all clover where gypsum was applied. The control spot (no gypsum) looks thinner and has zero browsing. Clover has never been browsed in summer before this year. Could be because there are no soybeans planted this year, could be the gypsum made it a little better tasting. |
This is the work trail leading into the big plot. It's only had lime added. Much thinner, and no signs of browsing at all. |
This is out by bur oak hill. This has always been the best looking spot. It gets full sun and it's had lime, gyspum, P, and K. Also getting used well in summer. |
This is the corner by the black cherry trees near the freezer. Gets a lot more sun, and it's had lime, gypsum, P, and K. Getting lot of attention from the deer. |
Rye in spring that was overseeded in the fall. |

New trail clover is filling in nicely since August. |
Browsing pressure is really picking up. |
I overseeded barley to act as a grass before actual grass starts growing. |

Something went terribly wrong with the fall plots, and that is putting all the pressure on the clover here. Good news is, the deer love the clover. The bad news is, it'll all be gone before the end of September.
