In my area, there's a decent population of black bear.  So far, we've gotten along well.  They haven't destroyed much, nor shown any signs of putting a hurtin on the fawn population.  The first year I planted trees in tubes, I had some get shredded.  But that was limited to 4 out of 36.  I promptly replaced them and the trees were no worse for the wear.
